The one everyone comes for. Surf schools, food, showers, lifeguards from April to November. Parking is small and dear.

    Surf guide

Best swell: W, works SW to NW. Best wind: ESE, offshore. Best tide: most tides, with mid the safest bet. The wave: Beach break, lefts and rights. The most consistent in town. Bottom: Sand. Suits: Intermediate up when it is big; surf schools use it on small days. Crowd: Busy, with a strong local crew. Watch out for: Rips, including ones that open without warning when a sandbank collapses. Boards: Anything, longboard to shortboard. On the beach: Toilets, showers, surf schools and shops, food, lifeguards.

Rips. A rip opened inside the red and yellow flags in July 2025 when a sandbank collapsed, and lifeguards pulled 17 people out of it. Their supervisor said a collapsing sandbank is not the kind of thing they can predict.RNLI, July 2025
